What TOTP means

TOTP stands for time-based one-time password. An authenticator app generates a short code that changes frequently.

When enabled, the code adds a second factor beyond the account password for sensitive actions.

Recovery matters

A second factor can also lock out the rightful user if recovery is handled poorly. Recovery information belongs somewhere secure and controlled by the user.

Two-factor authentication is an account-protection layer, not a market-risk control.
